July 2008—Raising Money for Panda Fund
The members of Panda Unlimited from one of the Flickr groups I belong to has asked me to donate one of my Panda blankets in honor of Tai Shan, the Panda Cub, born at the National Zoo in Washington DC. Being a Panda fanatic and have always supported Panda conservation, I gladly accepted and will be making a very SPECIAL EDITION Panda blanket that will be put in a SILENT AUCTION during a fund raising event for the National Zoo. I will be soon posting progress photos of this special Panda blanket on my Flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/jennifergdesigns.

Organic Cotton Baby Blanket
I am a linen fanatic, but I do understand that not everyone has the same appreciation for linen like I do. Therefore, I have decided to offer my baby blankets in a different fabric - organic 100% cotton. The idea of organic really got me excited because organic is really the "in thing" right now. This weekend I bought some of the new organic fabric and there are a few blankets in progress right now. I can't wait to have them finished. I think they will be a good alternative to my original linen blankets. Now my customers will have options on Etsy. www.jgdesigns.etsy.com I hope they go over well. I am already impressed with the quality of the fabric and my designs look good appliqued on it. My goal for the week is to get those blankets done and get samples out!

New Project
So, I am working on a business deal with this fellow mother and business owner to sell my baby blankets on her baby boutique website called www.bejeweleddesigns.net. My Baby Sea Turtles, Pandas and Elephants blankets will soon be for sale there. It is quite exciting and I feel a bit honored because the store owner approached me after seeing my photos of my products on www.flickr.com/people/jennifergdesigns/. Her items and her website are quite phenomenal so having my blankets featured along with the other lovely items is quite an honor.
I do have my work cut out for me. Yes, I still work full-time in a completely different industry which I plan to leave by the summer. I am VERY burnt out of the industry I am in and want to move on to a career that is more suitable for me and what my true passion is - arts, crafts, design and working with people with the same interests as me.
For the time being I have to work on JenniferG Designs part-time, but I know there will be late nights sewing! It will be all worth it.
My most popular design is my Modern Baby Sea Turtles (aka Honus ~hawaiian for turtle). I am amazed at how well-received this design has become. I played around with the design quite a bit. I never want to create something that looks oridinary and common. I think I finally achieved that with this design!
